VideoKid is Byte-sized Nostalgia
There are plenty of high-brow indie games available. This isn't one of them. The VideoKid is a throwback to the classic game Paperboy – the player is tasked with tossing papers into subscribers' mailboxes, weaving between obstacles along the way. VideoKid updates the graphics and infuses the world with nostalgia, with an array of classic characters like The Terminator and Scooby-Doo making appearances (paired with fitting music and sound effects).
The game's lone fault is par for the course in this genre: it isn't entirely fair. There's virtually no way to make it through the course without having memorized several 'gotcha' moments, making for a sometimes frustrating process of trial and error. Even so — it's a lot of fun, and well worth the price of admission.
The VideoKid is available on Switch, XBox, Playstation, Steam, iOS, and Android, for about $5.
